Nothing went wrong. Everything functioned as intended. The organizers simply made a decision not to use the backups and to go a different direction. That is their prerogative.

We are talking about the same thing. There was an entire room left empty on the schedule on Friday, at least partly due to speakers having to withdraw for whatever reason. That room was used for BoFs (which would not have appeared on the schedule) instead of talks.
