Hi,

My Mum forwarded me a rather long email from Environment Tasmania, a
group that advocates for many things including the protection of the
wonderful natural environment in this area.

They have an initiative underway at present that I suspect will resonate
with many linux.conf.au attendees - the conservation of the natural
environment of Bruny Island [0] - some 20 minutes ferry ride from Hobart.

Of particular note: Bruny Island has an important population of Fairy
Penguins along with many other endangered species.

To the concern at hand, I quote from the email from Environment Tasmania;

"Industrial salmon farms are popping up all round Bruny. Our tourism
friends reckon they threaten nature tourism, and we’re really worried
about the waste they release in the oceans – tonnes and tonnes of fish
poo a year."

If this is the sort of thing you'd be comfortable signing a petition
against, please do so at [1]

Thank you for your consideration,

Kind Regards,
Hugh
